Gretsch RB Burgundy Last viewed: 3 hours ago

First, these are not my drums. Here's the story:

A friend of mine told me he had a set of Gretsch drums in his basement that he got when he was 8 yrs old, he is 58. He told me he got them used from a family friend, took lessons but became more interested in sports and put them away. His kids played them when they were young, but treated them more like toys and that might explain a few of the missing parts.

Drum sizes are 20 ,12 and 14 snare. Unfortunately he said it never had a floor tom. I think this was a variation of the "One Nighter Plus" drum set. Inside has silver paint, but no paper tags/model/serial #. I'm guessing they were built around 62-64?

Cymbals: Zildjian 20" ride and 14" hi hats.

Known issues: Bass drum inlay in two pieces, round badge is missing, only one bass drum spur. Tom has seam lifting and one of the tone control knob is slightly bent. Snare has no throw off lever. The drum key holder on the snare is intact, just off in the pic.

Everything else appears to be in good shape. The wrap has not faded and the drums look beautiful together.

Question is, given they're current condition, what would be a reasonable price if he were to sell them?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Maybe your kit is different than the one on ebay that sold for $7,200. Looks like your friend has a gem.

Search ebay's sold items for 'Gretsch Burgundy Sparkle Round Badge'.

Was different as it was a BOP kit (18" bass).

This is one great kit in a very nice wrap! Love the burgundy sparkles.

Those are awesome !

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Progressive Jazz model snare. Pretty desirable in that color. He would probably net more selling the snare by itself. Chances are since there is no floor tom he'd do better selling each of the drums individually. I generally don't condone breaking up sets but the fact is that if maximum return is the goal then that is probably the best way to achieve it. If the floor tom were there it would be different story.

Cool drums in a classic wrap.
