Gretsch RB Brass snare

Loading...

I've brought up this old Gretsch snare before and it's caused some controversy. It's a plain brass RB snare, not COB. People speculated that it had been stripped or that it wasn't a Gretsch shell. I have since consulted Steve Maxwell and he confirmed that Gretsch indeed made a short production run of plain brass snares in the early 70s , (can also be seen on the cover of the -71 catalog [ame]http://www.drumarchive.com/Gretsch/Gretsch_71.pdf[/ame] ). I'm interested in what you experts may estimate is the value of this snare. Maxwell gave me a figure, but i'd like your input as well. The throw off needs replacing other than that it appears in decent shape.

Thanks

Pretty rare I'll say that. Matte brass not polished (right?) You want to know what? You can ask anything. Take best offer.

Assume pre-tag ..no markings inside?..

Has the 64-65 style dc hoops (not the dc early 53 type)

So doesn't look extremely old or anything. Mid 60s little earlier.or so.
