This is the kit that got me into vintage drums and inspired me to start the Gretsch Serial Number-Based Dating Guide project. I was frustrated because there was not a reliable source of information about how to date Gretsch drums.

I bought it at an auction at Mount St. Scholastica, a Catholic girls school in Atchison, Kansas, in about 2002. It was just the three drums, missing a few heads, but otherwise all original.

2002...that means you really aren't going to "touch up" the BD hoops, never had any plans to. I think that's great!

Because that particular shade of black is called "Applied Fifty Years Ago"...
