Gretsch progressive jazz kit

Saw this on the Bay and welcome your thoughts!

Do the bd hoops look all original - inlays look more like champagne than silver sparkle to me. Waiting to hear from seller about any other non-factory original parts besides 14 muffler. I may be missing some red flags though....

What's a fair price given the seller claims it's a 9/10?

It's been my experience that Gretsch bass hoop inlays do seem to discolor quite a bit and could be orginal. Looks like a nice kit good luck!

Esp on Champagne Kits......they turn almost gold.......

I'm convinced they used different glue on the inlays then the drums themselves............

I have a similar set with inlays that look about the same.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72

From what I understand, Gretsch sprayed clear lacquer on their hoops, which has faded and caused discoloration over time on most inlays.

Beautiful drums! Early 60's?.....nice! Silver Sparkle = one of my very favs. I'd say if they go anywhere under $3K it would be a good buy. My 58 Gold Sparkle 20/12/14/5.514 is appraised at $2200 but to me they're worth a lot more than that.
