Gretsch model 4157 vintage Snare Drum

Loading...

I have had a Gretsch model 4157 vintage snare drum since around 1982. I recently re-found it, and realize that I need the original throw off to make this drum complete. It has a generic throw off that was re-drilled onto the drum... Is it better to leave it alone - or try and put it back to original condition? Does anyone know where I might find original parts for this drum?

Also - the finish is a natural walnut color stain... Did these come with a natural finish, or was the original wrap pulled off and then stained? Any help, including aprox value, and aprox date of manufacture, would be much appreciated.

Thanx!
