Gretsch guys-need help: Bass drum rim placement

Loading...

I have Gretsch rims ready to go back on a bass drum. Hate to ask what I feel might be dumb question, but what goes against the bass drum head-the rounded edge or the tapered edge? I have the tapered edge facing out now and it looks like the claws aren't sitting correctly on the rims.

What gives? D. Help2

Flattest edge should go against the drumhead. Not certain which that would be, from your round vs tapered description.

+3 Flat Edge against Head

//Claws don't have to fit perfect (aftermarket hoops (or other reason) (they'll settle as you drive it (car talk)

it's ok.

But flattest edge against head
