I'm surprised. It's way less $$ than I would've guessed. Perhaps gussied-up Catalinas?

I was lucky enough to have attended the NAMM show this weekend and got a chance to see this Gretsch kit up close. It's a Renown series and was front and center in their booth.
Also nice to see was Ludwig's commitment to new vintage-style B/O badge kits - Sky Blue Pearl with a rail mount and green Vistalites. (Sorry for the quality of the cell phone photos!)
I play in a rockabilly band. When we gig,we have several classic car clubs come down with thier "rides".
No way I would spend the askin price on this set however,I have some bare Rogers shells and matching lugs etc. lyin around.I could paint them and use some gloss white wrap or white paint for the triangles.Any thoughts on how to fabricate the chrome chevrons? Maybe I could have someone with talant paint a larger Rogers script logo on each shell.
I know it won't look as pretty as the Gretsch set but, could be a cool project.
$2 grand? Not bad but I still couldn't show up to any gig I do with those and a straight face.
Pretty cool looking drums. Located the lowest price at http://www.midwestpercussion.com/drums/acoustic/gretsch/usamaple.html
and while going retro how about making them back in the us instead of
taiwan or china?! whichever one of you said big money collector
put the rim right on the head!
I'd agree with that! That's a GREAT point. Bring American manufacturing back!Clapping Happy2
Me i like the kit but for how long ? . i think after the novelty wears off and buyer's remorse set's in DOH one would be looking to sell the kit at a fire price .
Why haven't drum manufacturers realized "Vintage" is more than just the wrap?
Look at those spurs and that rack ... and the bass tom mount ... and and and and.
It's not too difficult to pinpoint the breakdown on retro sets.
