Gretsch drums

Loading...

Hey guys I want to get your opinion on these drums I'm going to check out on the weekend. The seller is going to switch out the 13 for a 12. Do you think that price is decent? Looks a bit high to me but I do understand that gretsch drums do command higher prices. Let me know what you think.

For a kit that has been modified, that $'s too high.

These, to me are much more reasonable:

The natural kit might not even have extra holes, and it's with a snare drum!

Good luck.

I agree with fishaa

The kit is too modified for that price. I like the finish....but no NOT like the tom holder and the bd tom hanger......just looks not right on those nice drums. But, the seller says he can restore them, and that's what I'd do if I could get them for the right price.......well under $1000 is good for those drums the way they are.

I paid $900 for these and that included the cases and old Zildjian cymbals, hihat and pedal.

First photo as they arrived

second after restoration (did not have to do anything with the finish or alter the shells).

It pays to look around.

Sonofabeech! The first set (above/ NJ Craigslist) sold on ebay two days ago for $660... or did it? Same NJ location too.

That's some serious snare rash on the 13"

The tom mount is for a lefty.

I have owned 3 different era Gretsch sets-50's w/stick choppers,70's concert toms and 80's Drop-G,and the 70's drums were the best sounding. The 50's drums had weird backwards edges that I coul never get to tune up right, and the build quality of the Drop-G's was KRAPP-gaps in the plies-SHAMEFUL quality control.70's American Gretsches are pretty damn good...

Thanks for the help guys, I doubt he'd drop his price to much so I'll keep looking. I was planning to try my hand at restoring them but yeah price is key!

I hate the mods on it

I wouldn't pay close to that price with all those extra holes due to those horrible mods
