12 inch tack bottom tom-tom drum. Mark Cooper tells me this is a lower end line tom from the late 30s-early 40s. These parts are missing: bottom skin, tom mount and it appears it has been painted or the paint is peeling. There was no batter head on the drum when it came into my possession. On the positive side, the hoop, lugs, collar tension screws, and internal muffler all seem to be original. Was also glad to see the original bottom tacks and Gretsch round badge and pin were all intact. Having no experience with drums of this vintage, I’m not sure what to make of the shell covering/ paint and if the hardware has been painted.
