Oh yes sir! That was a pain. I bet if I sold that off alone I could recoup what I have into this drum! LoLoLoLo

People don't seem to factor in that part when we decide to sell. We're not in it for the buck, we're in it to fix, bring back to life if you will, what some other idiot destroyed. People never factor in what it would cost THEM to have someone else "professionally" restore what we started with.....

Yes - I hear you on that one (if I'm reading into this what you're saying?). Sometimes it can be very rewarding to bring a drum back to life and even just give it to someone that needs a nice drum and appreciates what you did to bring it back to that state. I know I'd certainly feels great doing that. On the other hand.....it would feel pretty crappy to spend a lot of time and money on a drum and give it, or even sell it, to someone only to have them misuse it entirely.

For instance: I had an opportunity to sell some drums recently and I eventually declined.....not because the buyer was not willing to buy them but, because I was not happy with where the drums were going. I only found this out after a number of emails. Too long of a story to get into here. So I'm keeping the drums.........for now.

Ok, project is finished (again! LOL!) so I've attached some pics....sorry, I'm not much of a photographer.....but it did come out very nice, I think anyway.

That came out slick. It's got a very understated look to it that screams class. Great job on this one LuddyDude.

Thanks Raj! And it still sounds great too.....not "boxy" at all like some would describe Gretsch 6-luggers......I think the original spec Gretsch wires and a Vintage A head help with the sound as well.....plus I bet without any extra "vent" holes in it now it helps quite a bit too! :p

That came out real nice and your right, black goes with anything! Didn't you have to tweak the snare beds on that one?

Nope, the beds and bearing edges were fine the way they were. I did have to fill a whole lot of extra holes in the shell from about 4 different throw-offs fitted to it in its lifetime.....
