Gretsch Defender bass drum

Loading...

Just to get some info from you experts:

This 26" bass drum is for sale at a local music shop.

I believe it's a Gretsch Defender. At least it looks like is.

The shell is in a sorry state (some long cracks and I guess out of round).

All lugs are present, 13 out of 16 tension rods and claws (3 not original).

Unfortunately, the drum has been painted by an amature.

This drum needs a lot of work. But I do like the wwII wooden lug appearance.

Are the wooden lugs any good? So, if the shell is beyond repair that they can be used on another shell?

And what would be a decent price for the drum (or at least for the lugs / rods and rims) in this condition?

it's quite a rarity here in Europe.

The pic below is the only one I have at the moment.

Thanks, Wouter
