Gretsch COB Heads wont fit

Loading...

Trying to replace the batter side head on my snare. It's always been super hard to get heads on but this time I had to use an old stick and a hammer to get the head off and cannot get a new head on. It's been a few years since I swapped heads. I stood on the heads, put the hoop on and tried to force it on. It's just too freakin small.

I'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if there is a different size I could get. I've been using remo for years. I don't think that it's just out of round because it isn't obvious that there's one place that's not fitting.

I'd really love some help trying to figure this out. Thanks guys.

Aquarian American Vintage are oversized

I have never used Aquarian before last week

I put American Vintage on my '66 Round Badge and they went on with ease and sound amazing

they really nailed the calf sound

such a nice mellow tone and great feel

worth a look

I had the same problem with a brass Slinger/Leedy and solved it with an Evans G1. Tried the Aquarian American Vintage and it would not fit.

Never play it the same way once.

another trick if you want to use standard heads: take a hack saw or similar device and cut through the metal counterhoop at opposite points on the circle. try not to cut too much of the head itself. it will then fit over larger shells.
