Gretsch bop kit ground up 18" Round badge

So lets see what all the fuss is about. I got this drum all cleaned up and on its legs. The only thing non original will be the bass drum hoops and heads. Interesting to see what it will sound like with that Pratt muffler on such a small drum.

Yes sir 18" Gretsch bop bass drum. Actually known as the optional drum with the Progressive Jazz outfit. This one was a cool find. Now to hunt down the rest of the drums!

A certain someone in Florida has a matching floor tom but at a price I am not sure I want to pay for just one drum.

Well ya, thats the hard part, paying the price once you do find a the drum you want. But I tell ya, my first vintage kit was sbp clubdate, jazz fest snare, 20" bass, 12" tom but no floor tom. Early this year I found the floor tom, it cost me 450.00 (it was a 14" er) but Im glad I went through with it, have not seen one since and it took three years to find this one.

Sorry for the story, you have a nice drum and I hope you do locate the remaining pieces.

Jeff,

I hear you! I had the same happen with my red sparkle club date. I made a floor tom and then 6 months later two factory drums pop up. In your case I think $450 was a fair deal if it took so long to find one. The problem with sky blue pearl is that they all fade differently.

Beautiful finish! I might be selling my Clubdate today locally. Hate to let a kit go but I do have a few.

Back on topic - all the claws and tension rods are soaking in dawn soap and water. I will have some bass drum hoops on the way and looking to get some old wrap to use as an inlay.

A set in the same color, 18,12,14 with snare went out on eBay a couple of years ago very late in the evening. I was searching and saw it, pushed the button because the price was half or less the normal, and I had the buy captured. When I selected my account for Paypal, I got a message: This item has already been purchased. Ugh! Obviously an eBay thingy, but one of the guys on the forum got the set. So there is a twin of your bass drum somewhere in our midst.

Good luck with your search. I have a 12x18 Ludwig kick in sbp.

Been looking for a 14 for a year with no luck.
