Gretsch bass drum hoops

Loading...

Hi, Im in need of some new bass drum hoops for a gretsch round badge kit. Anybody know who would make a close to original hoop? I believe the 60s gretsch hoops are 3ply 1.5 wide with a 3/4 inlay, correct? A quick search on the internet didnt bring a match for 3ply hoops. This doesnt have to be a perfect match but something close. Keller? I see that name a lot concerning bass hoops. Any help or advice pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

And for general future reference, Precision Drum co. is quite reasonable with making up hoops to spec.

Inlay grooves in any width up to 1" wide and hoop widths up to (and exceeding I think) 5" wide with square (modern) or rounded (vintage style) front edges.

I'm having a couple made up for my old Yamaha kit with the wide (15/16"- or probably the nearest mm equivalent actually) inlay groove but a modern square edge. Those will be (about) $50.00 each. Compare that to the (decent) Gibraltar wood hoops which are ~$60.00 each with no inlay groove.

Oh, forgot to mention, I will be going up and they will make them up (using my original as a guide) while I wait! SWEET!

+1 on Precision Drum Co. hoops. I had a set made up for my son's Gretsch kit.
