Gretsch and Dyna recording Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Returning with a cold from a vacation week on Crete I didn't feel up to much yesterday. However, curious about the sound of my beloved practice kit (consisting of a ca 1963 Gretsch RB kit and a ca 1964 Dynasonic snare drum) I went up to my practice room and recorded it without any cymbals. The recording was made with a Zoom H4n.

Here is the recording. I am quite pleased with the sound of the drums.

There is a high pitched noise in the recording owing to the fact that my practice room is actually a boiler room with a lot of stuff running all the time. Well, I am happy to have a place close to home for my daily practice sessions, so I am not complaining...

Toms are equipped with Fyberskin batters and Ambassador Coated resos. Bass drum has Ambassador Coated batter and Smooth White reso. Dynasonic has Ambassador Coated and resonant.

Hi Magnus,

Can't get it to play. I'm in a hotel with an old laptop so could be me.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Sorry to hear that, Creighton. It plays fine on my computer, though. Perhaps it's the hotel's internet connection that is too slow? The soundfile is a wave file, so it is a little large.

Best,

Sounds nice, Magnus. A set I'd be happy to play.

Thanks Ron and Wayne. The only thing I regret about getting hip to Dynas is that I lost all interest in other snare drums...
