Not my question, but a question I can't research at the moment....
Gretsch or Gretsch USA are maple and gum?
and some are just maple? is that
correct? .... and if so.. how can you tell the difference...
Thanks

They way I understood it all Gretsch shells were the maple/gumwood if they were made by Jasper. When Jasper went out, all the gretsch shell tooling/forms went to Keller. Keller supplied their normal shells (all maple) to gretsch for a short period of time until they tooled up for the maple/gumwood formula again. I think that was the case about 8-10 years ago. They should be all back to the 6-ply maple/gumwood again. I remember reading an article somwhere about Gretsch and the Jasper shells, but can't remember where as it was some time ago.....maybe there is a Gretsch expert out there that can confirm this for us?
Thanks!
That helps and I will forward the information.. If I do get more info I will update this post for others.
