A few questions for the experts:

Is this thing worth repairing?

Is the red/black original?

how would I remove black paint from a paper sticker?

can that mean looking crack be fixed?

Im pretty sure it is late 60's but any help in dating it??

I cant take other pictures if needed

HELP

ZOLE - pretty much anything can be fixed. A well known drum builder once told me that:)

If the drum is 6ply it's 58 or later but if the sticker is a Gretsch sticker - it probably is 62 or later.

It looks wicked & scary from the pix but I think you should try to repair it if you have the time and patients. Go onto YouTube for starters and type in drum repair and see what comes up. Also there may be people on this site that have tackled something like this in the past.

I know a lot of people would say it's not worth the effort but I think it is; especially if you bring this critter back to life.........a good feeling.

Let us know the outcome.

Me again

I forgot to add.............I'm wondering if that's one of those Harlequin paint jobs. Gretsch had a red/black in the design back in the day & they reissued the finish last year. Just a thought..........

And maybe someone tried to do the Harlequin paint thing themselves......... I did on my Drum Room wall = the Yellow/Brown.

Yea the paint is kinda weird....upon further inspection It seems as though thier was Silver under where the lugs were...sooo Yea ..the mystery deepens.

Jonni.....That is awesome

That may be something I consider over the summer....

I would like to get an idea on value, and availablity of parts to complete it fully...I would hate to own a georgously repaired 16" floor and still not be able to use it. (then I would have to get the rest of the kit....and $$ and $$ and $$ HAHAHAHAHAH )

BUT FIRST...... I HAVE A COB gretsch snare that I want to get the parts for.

I will check out your videos.

Thanks

Z
