Gretsch 14x16 FT Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

So I'm hoping some gretsch guys can help me out. I might be picking up a set that is a 20/12/14x16 (and yes I checked with the owner, it sounds like it's def a 14x16 rather than a 16x16 or 14x14).

FT is early 70's...were these custom ordered? Anyone else ever see one of these? I can't for the life of me find any 14x16 FT in any of the catalogs.

Thank!

It was refinished in the late 80s so I don't know what the original wrap is. Owner says the drums have tags so I'll be curious to see what the model numbers are.

The only two possibilities that I can think of is:

1. It's a converted concert tom (which more than likely should mean there are holes for a mount).

or 2. It's a custom ordered Floor Tom, which if that's the case, I wonder what they would use for a tag in that circumstance.

I've got a factory 16(deep) x 14 Slingerland FT. Custom orders were easily had "back in the day".

Never play it the same way once.

Are you talking in Gretsch terms, as in: 16 diameter x 14 depth or the other way around?

I had a black nitron Drop G kit, with a custom sized mounted tom. the paper tag inside was for the standard sized tom that was cataloged.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

@Orengami I've seen them with Rogers and Slingerland, so I figured a custom order was at least a possibility.

@DanBoucher it is a 14" diameter x 16" deep.

@teverson so the floor tom was a concert floor tom?

Thanks for all the info of all! Much appreciated!
