From markrocks68

Here's my response from DFO :

I appreciate the plug. Kinda reminds me of the outing of that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez video that had the opposite the intended effect. Although, I thought you threw in the towel:

I'm done with you, your store, everything.

Goodbye & good riddance.

What I hear, Marky Mark, from the drum community, is that you're very arrogant and near impossible to talk to since you apparently are a know-it-all. A real bad attitude. Just saying what I heard.

I think your bandanna's too tight because all you seem to offer is your 1 cent, repeating it over and over. You ain't got 2 to rub together. And, as I said on VDF, you could not possible make sense of a nickel. But I have no doubt that you'd follow one that rolled into the sewer ... because that is precisely where your mind always seems to be.

You are a BULLY.

On another forum you asked me "WHO are you?" I'll ask the same question : who is it in your small mind you imagine yourself to be??? It appears that you hold yourself in the same stratosphere as, say, Charlie Watts. Only Charlie Watts is playing for massive audiences worldwide - the young, the old, and everything in between. You? You're a middle-aged nobody playing for geriatrics dancing away on titanium hips. That, bud, is not none too hip!

___

I've said for a while now that this forum is dying a slow death because of stuff like this. It's now in a death rattle ~ so I hope the administrators take note and do something substantive about it. I've been swatted on the hand for going overboard and until this thread have zipped my lips. I am NOT the only one who's taken flight. VDF's #'s seems WAY DOWN!

Markrocks68 seems way overdue for a shaking in his highchair. Offer your opinion; but do you need to be so bitter about it. That's rhetorical; because it appears that you in fact do need to be so bitter.

Seems like you knocked on a few doors to find out who I am here on VDF.

98.5% of the time on VDF I've behaved. When I'm mischievous it's typically ONLY when the BULLYS and the morons open their mouths.

Maybe VDF numbers are down because interest in vintage drums is waning? Maybe it's because most of the really nice vintage drums have already been collected? We're mostly a bunch of old guys now, after all. Are we going to spend our time grumbling about the price of gas or a loaf of bread?.....nah!

David provides this forum for the discussion of vintage drums -not personal-beef bickering. Have some courtesy for your host. We're all adults here, right?

Phone and email still exists for impolite arguing and there is no need to be using a public discussion forum as a captive audience. Be courteous for our host's sake if nothing else.

Meanwhile....back at the discussion: That's a great drum set regardless of the asking price. I certainly can't afford it....but I've never been into the whole Ringo thing, anyway. For me, that kit is cool....but the high price comes only from the Ringo fantasy connection. I suppose that a non-Ringo fan doesn't "get" the reasoning behind an asking price like that because they don't care about Ringo. It really only makes sense if one does care, after all....right?

Could not agree more. However, this guy's chomping at me so I'm defending myself with a bigger dose of his own medicine. He's got a bone up his a$$ for sellers like myself and he's the one putting it there.

This forum has gone south because of stuff like this. It has. Interest in vintage drums has not gone down; but hits here have. I've heard from others on this very topic.

The good side of the forum I've loved! The backside is for the birds!

Other forums are not immune either. I hear fakebook is hell on earth.

markrocks68 wants a truce, let him ask for one. But I bet you he won't do the decent thing. I'm pretty much done with him and will attempt to not respond again. Attempt.

Yeah, I was going to say that I'll bet hits are down on ALL drum forums...and maybe forums, in general. It's just the nature of how interacting on the internet is changing/evolving. Personally, I've lost a lot of interest in drum-gear and drumming over the last few years, too. Time changes everything. I suppose if these types of websites are to be equated to cities and towns, then DFO grew into a big city and VDF remained a small town. But...small town life can be real, real good, too. :)

... and this would be a fine time to chime in here ... David and I have been here since the beginning! Truth be told, David has other pursuits and has had same for quite some time now .. thus .. I pretty much oversee the VDF, what it WAS, and what it still is. What that means is this: Things they DO change as time moves forward, and that includes vintage drums, forums that talk about vintage drums, the sale of vintage drums, the pricing of vintage drums, well, you get the idea. David and I decided from the get go that the VDF would be ad free and always available for the folks that would enjoy participating. We have indeed maintained that for the past 14 years! We do expect that the membership conduct themselves in a courteous manner, and for pretty much the most part, you have! .. but .. with ANY open/public forum, you are going to get disagreement, bickering, verbal abuse, verbal diarrhea, ad nauseam. I elect to let some of it remain, as it DOES make for some entertaining reading!, but when it really spins out of control or gets overly aggressive, well ... time to shut 'er down, and/or delete. My editorial stance is actually pretty accommodating! All this said ...

... it just doesn't matter to David or I what the numbers are here, as long as there are members who enjoy being a part of the VDF and contribute to it! Things could change a little further down the road as costs to maintain the VDF continue to escalate, but for now we are still here for those that want, and do, enjoy our little vintage drum community!

I appreciate the freedom to let people voice their opinions- whatever they are. That's becoming more rare altogether, so good on y'all for that.

I thought everyone should know that either markrocks68 or W&A Player complained to Reverb about my OBP Jazz Fest listing & they temporarily removed the listing. This ain't NO coincidence as I had a $40k guitar listed (and this should have been the one that they had an issue with). Read from REVERB :

Hi Chris,

Reverb Customer Support here. We’re writing today in regards to a listing on your shop:

Reverb | Ludwig Jazz Festival Snare Drum

Our Listings Standards team has temporarily suspended this pending edits to address the following:

Unusual / Incorrect Pricing: The listing price is appears higher than expected. While we don’t ask sellers to low-ball or underprice their listings, we do encourage pricing gear within a range supported by the Reverb Price Guide, as this will lead to the quickest sales.

_______________________________________

markrocks68 + W&A Player are bottom feeders. Worms. Worse.

It doesn't matter as everything of high value I had listed has now been removed from Reverb because if they make that dumb of a business decision they don't deserve my business. Reverb doesn't know everything; they don't even have proper syntax.

I am through responding to 2 cent. Just thought you'd appreciate what fellow forum members are capable of doing to grease their own egos in the service of thwarting a sale. But that's okay. It's on ebay and that's where it will sell anyways with far less in fees.
