Greetings and a heads up on a nice old kit

Loading...

Greetings from central Ohio. I started playing in '82 on a beat-up Blue Vistalite kit and recently obtained the bass drum back from that V-lite kit and hope to put it to use one day. I'll post pics if/when I get to it. I've also been buying a few older kits and cleaning them up and will share those as well.

Here's a few from the (I believe from the serial #'s 1966?) black lacquer kit.

I took the rod's off the bass drum and they still had the original curl of grease on the end. Pretty sure the heads had never been off this kit and there was no floor tom.

14x20 - 8x12 - 5.5x14 8 lug snare - Zilco splash and WFL pedal

$75 at a local garage sale.

Finally, I wanted to share this listing I just found on Craigslist.

Not my sale but if anyone is interested in this kit, I'd be glad to try and help the transaction along as best possible from Columbus/Worthington, OH.

I wish I had some old guitar gear to trade!

HI, Nice find at the yard sale! Good of you to offer help with the other. I don't go back that far (yet), but it sure looks like a very mucho kool kit for trade.

That kit is a Clubdate and it does appear to be original...and likely is complete as-is, because many of these kits were sold sans the floor tom. There appears to be a lot of rust which suggests that it was stored in a moist environment. The hardware is nickel plated -not chrome. The inside shot through the grommet hole indicates that the interiors are in really nice condition. I'll bet those will look really sharp if they are cleaned up and de-rusted and a little TLC and elbow grease is applied to them. If the heads have never been off, then the bearing edges are probably in great shape.

Nice kit!
