Hello,

I'm new with a question concerning the green vistalite article on fakes

I just acquired a stone cold mint green vistalite kit.

And am wondering about the authenticity. after some googleing I came across this site

Can I send pics to someone for help?

It came with orig heads and all badges are 1359xxx

Thanks,

Post some pictures here.

True Vistalites had only one shade of green. If yours look like mint or coke bottle green, they are NOT true Vistas.

My kit:
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler
Gibraltar motorcycle seat-style drum throne with backrest

The best way to tell is by looking at the seams inside the shell. If the seam is a 'V' shaped channel, it's an old Ludwig shell. If the seam is filled, or level and smooth, it's a modern RCI shell.

Yes Mint as in condition.

Seams are V shaped, so far so good. maybe I got lucky.

Google vistalite drums. That site has all kinds of info on vistalites. One way to tell the phonys are the B/O badges. If the circle R (as in registered trademark) is blurry,or if the A in USA dips below the Ludwig logo...it's a phony repro badge.

Good luck with the vistas.

If those are 'V' shaped channels in there then yes, you really lucked out! Those are legit 70's Ludwig Vistalite shells.

Congrats on a great score! Rare kit indeed. Hold on to it. It will only continue to increase in value with time.
