Do the 5 ply shells lessen the value of the kit or is it just personal preference? Thanks.

They bring less money than the 3 ply shells do. It drives me nuts the 5 ply shells are fantastic sounding great built shells..
It`s not always the $ that count but the sound can always be depended upon.Great 5 ply Slingys for a super price and enjoy. Also let us know how you do with that wrap split in the ft.-looks like abit of a job. Here`s one of mine that has done time with the elements.

Thanks again all and I will keep you posted on that wrap split. I'm hoping to loosen/remove the wrap under the crack and snug it up figuring that the rim will cover up what I pull back from the bearing edge - looking for my wife's hair dryer now.

Very nice Slingerlands!! I remember seeing these before somewhere? Here or DFO? Green sparkle is a great color and hope you enjoy them~!
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Nice drums, indeed...and a good price.
Please report back in the differences you notice in the sound of the 3-ply vs. 5 ply shells, or which you prefer. I have a set of 5 ply which I love and it would really be cool to have the chance as you do to compare them side by side with a three ply set
