i feel like i am and maybe some of us here are like a shark in the water prowling and as soon as we smell blood or in this case maple 3 ply shells and brass we go into a feeding frenzy and try to get first bite in and some times we do and sometime we bite off more than we can chew and i love my drums but this has become an obsession that i need to stop as i cant own all the drums in the world so am i alone in this as a rogue or do some of u feel the same?

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I caught the bug hard about three years ago....
Bought, rehabbed and sold 5 kits....
Bought 12 other vintage outfits from the 40s to the late 70s and kept them.
Acquired around 3K in vintage cymbals.
Got about 18 vintage and 6 new cymbal and hi hat stands
Spent well over 3K in heads
Bought 40 drum cases and need another 60 or so
Wound up with 65 vintage snare drums so far............
So yes, you are not alone......:)

So when are you building on?
HA! Good one... It's far to hot here in the summer to keep kits in the garage. I have full closets, all bagged except the ones being played at the moment...
Can we all say "A-D-D-I-C-T-I-O-N"?
I have a rule no more than 2 kits at a time and if I am not playing them then they get sold but i hold on to kits for a long time and do not consider myself a collector but i could be real easy... but that would cut into my fishing time to much... :)ExcitedExcitedExcited

Take it from me,there's worse things out there 2B addicted to.
I'm with Mike T, I have a three kit limit. As soon as I buy the fourth kit, one of the others has to go. It's kind of like a heroin addict controlling his own dose.
Keeps the Ball & Chain happy too. Never 'too many' drums around to remind her of how much $ I spend on drums and gear. It also allows me to own and play kits I otherwise would not have had.
'It's not about how many toys you own, it's about getting to play with as many different toys as you can!' For a guy on my kind of limited budget, it's an ideal situation.

Collecting vintage snare drums is a very fun (serious) hobby...I play modern day snare drums and collect vintage snare drums from the 1900s to the 1940s...Been doing it for 16 yrs. and still on the honeymoon!
