Gracy late 60s interesting strainer

Here is one that I do not own but is a good one for studying I think. It's a late 60s/very early 70s Gracy. It has lugs that are identical to Teisco snares of that era- very not Pearl. Also, the internal muffler is identical in the set up of it's mounting screws to Teisco- again, distinctly not Pearl. But look at that bizarre strainer switch. I thought Pearl acquired Gracy at some point but from this it doesn't look like it. I have a 20/12/16 from this same badge era and again the shells are different from Pearl luan shells. Looks like Gracy was still it's own company into this late badge era and was buying parts from Teisco or somehow linked up with them or the same parts manufacturer- I think.

Brotha Bop! It has always been my opinion and from what little research I have done on Gracy that they were nothing more than an assembler, using others' parts and just putting together the drums for sale to an unsuspecting public. I also believe Teisco did the same as their parts are too similar to others as well.

This is what i know and think about this drum..The lugs are copy's of 60s gretsch i have seen these lug's on Gracy drums along with about 30 to 40 other names.The strainer is a copy of a Slingerland 3 point straner from the 40's-60's..The muffler is also a copy of Teisco,if it was Teisco muffler it would have a smaller knob with a small cup washer not flat like on your drum,and would not have a sring on the inside workings of the muffler..So to me this whole drum is M.I.J. with copy parts....Mikey

Hmmm... Thanks for posting this O-Bop. I have a question, though. How sure are you about the late 60s/early 70s dating? Seems like that strainer is a pretty early Slingerland design to be copied at such a late date.
