Gotta love the 1920s Universal

Picked this up a couple weeks ago in rough shape. Nearly all the clips were broken and i feared the finish was beyond repair. I read about semichrome on the forum, which worked wonders. I was not expecting much in the way of sound, but with ambassador's top and bottom, it sounds great. It's a bit beat up and sounds somewhat raw and trashy- perfect.

Raw and trashy is the way they're supposed to sound! That's sweet one. Nice find.

Enjoy,

John

Too many great drums to list here!

They definitely don't have to sound raw or trashy!! That drum will tune up tight and right!! I have a 4 x 15 and a 5 x 15 and it's a cannon set up with the right heads and tension. Try a few things out. One thing I did with mine was to set aside the original clips and buy some steel clips for regular use. They are far tougher than the brass originals and stand much higher tension. Don't let the 6 lugs fool you: it can sound awfully big and punchy!!

Thanks! I saw those and thought they were the same. Drummaker sells brass ones for $2.50 ea and drumfactory was $2. I figured they were just a better price. I didn't know they were steel.
