Got the WMP Reveres today.........

Loading...

Kind of a letdown.....

They are branded Revere, but are clearly Kent drums.

Even the heads are Kent on all drums.....trashed,all of them though.

The 13" 2 ply has a pretty good factory gouge out of the top bearing edge, around 1" long, rendering it about useless.Buckling in the pearl too all around.Center lugs.

The 22" is a nice 6 ply,but only 6 lug,and it has center lugs ala Club Dates.

Both BD hoops were warped......Wish trash pickup was tomorrow, instead of 8 AM today.

The snare is pretty cool.Only 6 lugs, but no problems, except for a little buckling in the pearl.

The 16" FT turned out pretty good.Only 2 ply,but it's nice and thick, like a Gretsch 3 ply almost.Heavy.And the lugs are unlike any I have seen.

Japanese FT brackets on it. Short Slinger like legs.Rubber date stamp April of 68 or 69 inside.

There was a 2" long flat spot on the bearing edge top and bottom in the same spot,so they filled it in with some contact cement type glue, which I scraped off already.

For $60 to my door,I'm not complaining.......

It also came with a pair of 13" Zyn hi hats, and a very old British Olympic hi hat stand,a cheap MIJ cymbal stand, and a W and A foot pedal....exactly like the first pedal I ever got! Also, a very dented up MIJ 20" and a stray dented 13".

End of report.

Blair - After reading your report, I don't know whether to congratulate you or send you a sympathy card! lol

I guess with some serious work on the bearing edges, you can salvage a good player out of the deal. A kit you won't be afraid to gig at biker bars... band3

Too many great drums to list here!

I might know a guy who will take the snare for $40 as is.

He will need to put $35 into it for new heads/wires,so $75 total.......

no too bad for a WMP.

I'm going to keep the FT,and after I clean up the lugs/rims on it,get some new heads ,and see what it is all about.

I like WMP when it's not too yellowed, which this isn't.

Sounds like its a good deal. If you shine it up you might be able to keep what you want and still be out ahead. $60 bucks ain't nothing these days anyways.

Some pics would be awesome!

Haha me too. I have no idea how you use the attachment thing. I always use photobucket and then use the little image and insert the link and BAM pic on any forum you want. Upload once with no restrictions I like it.

Blair - use this site, bud!

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/?x=95&y=81

In the dialog box,

1. Check off where it says; Custom: size to 1000. (No need to touch any of the other settings.)

2. Click the 'Choose File' button... then select the photo you want to resize from whatever folder it's in.

3. Click: Resize.

4. After it resizes your photo, click: Download This Image.

When you post here at VDF, at the top of the dialog box you type in is an icon of a paperclip. (Next to the Happy Face up top.) When the dialog box opens; select your resized photo and click; Upload. Close the box, hit Submit Reply, and your photo will show up as a thumbnail people can click on at the bottom of your post.

Not hard. Just a pain in the a$$. But worth it. It's fun to share pictures and get feedback from the boys.

Hope this helps...

All I end up doing is testing the integrity of my laptop case when I try to post pix here. This is the ONLY aspect of this site I FREAKIN' HATE!!!!

Trixie the bunny sez this when I am trying to post pix on here:

"Daddy gets awfully religious when he's trying to post pix on vintagedrumforum. Okay- he says God a LOT, but what he says afterwards is stuff you wouldn't say in church. I think the pastor would douse my daddy in Holy Water and he'd just steam!!! Daddy is such a funny old man!!!!"

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

Kent made all the drums for Revere. So any Revere drum was going to be a Kent, essentially. Revere specified that they made some hardware changes, like the strainers. But its still a Kent drum.

For what you paid, you did great. If you went and just bought the STANDS you got, they would cost more than $60. I think you did very, very well!!
