Got some vintage sticks today.............

Loading...

Greetings,

I won some vintage sticks on eBay. They were all together on the same lot. I am a Certified Stick Nerd TM (Trademark Pending) and had not seen this Pro Mark logo before.

Pictured top to bottom are:

Weather King Combo 7A

Bruno 1A

Pro Mark Louie Bellson Model

Pro Mark JM Model

I assume JM is Joe Morello? I have a vintage Ludwig 11A Joe Morello model that is very similar. Both Pro Mark sticks have "Japan" stamped on them as well. They also kind of sort of look like Oak maybe??? But they certainly feel lighter than Oak. I know that the Pro Mark Oak sticks had Sumo Wrestler imagery and had a Japanese theme back in the day.

The Bruno stick is much longer than the others. Nice and thin with a long taper; feels good! It has a squared off butt end, so maybe it was made by Vater? I have some vintage Ludwig 1A's that are very similar (very long with a long taper, but the Bruno is thinner than the Ludwigs).

The Weather King Combo 7A is painted whiteish silver, almost like a combination of Ludwig Resocoat and the Gretsch silver sealer! It's a thin stick but it is much heavier than all the rest. It also has a hole in the butt end, same size and placement as where the Regal Tip graphite rods is placed (I think mainly just for hanging the stick after the glossy lacquer???)

Anyway, all tolled there were 5 Bruno 1A's, 5 Louie Bellson's, 9 Joe Morello's (1 is nylon tip, which Pro Mark prints as "Nylo Tip" on the stick), 1 Weather King, 3 Regal Tip Jazz (Nylon tip) and 2 Regal Tip Combo (Nylon Tip). The RT Jazz and Combo are still available today.

Anyway, anyone else familiar with these? I look forward to using them
