Anyone needing to replace the old Trixon slot head tension rods can use the PDP/DW fine tune square head rods with 5mm x .8mm threading. The DW/PDP corresponding threaded internal lug nut receivers can also be used as a substitute. These parts are the same ones used to assemble all Pacific and PDP drums sold all over the globe at relatively low prices. Of course neither of these parts has the exact same appearance, but for those who want to get their drum up and running without long waits hunting down the vintage originals this is now an optional workaround. Also a great solution for someone wishing to take their kit out gigging without worrying about wear and tear on the hard to find original tensioners. There are also some vintage MIJ kits which used this gauge threading on some of their kits and snares, although exactly which ones I am uncertain. Most I've encountered use the 5mm x .9mm threading with narrow looking square heads which to the naked eye look very close but won't work. Good rule to follow is to always use a metric thread gauge to measure the threads first rather than just assuming they will work.

Good info. I don't have a Trixon but would love one and if I ever get one that's missing rods I'll know what to do. Thanks Buckie B! I'm sure this will help others in this dilemma.

+1 - especially the part about checking thread pitch before winding one into you snare drum lugs. Can cause a ton of problems, stripping both; the tension rod threads and the threads of the ferule in the lugs. (If) you can get it out again!
