Could any of you post pictures of examples of these 2 wraps so I can see the difference please? If you need to know brand I'm most interested in Gretsch or Walberg & Auge. Thanks.

There's a place in the Drum Guide that shows the difference in vintage wraps for Slingerland, not your specific brand or color, but.......... most wraps were sourced from the same company.

Some of the current providers show the difference on their websites.

Flat scans of sparkle and GG are not the best A/B comparison, because it's more of a three-dimensional thing. Glass Glitter has more depth and more pointed light reflections due vs. the flatter shimmer of a sparkle. When Sparkle pearl is made, the sparkles are all oriented flat on the substrate, and are essentially two-dimensional. The glass shards use in Glass Glittle are not symmetrical, nor oriented flat. The edges of the glass offer more pointed refraction and the glass lends more depth to the finish. You MIGHT get some idea from flat scans, but some finishes like these, peralescent, etc. need to be seen up-close and in-person.

JamminSams will send a free sample of each, the glass glitter and the sparkle. Just contact them online. Precision may as well, and they are closer to you.

The Vintage Gold Sparkle wrap has small hexagon flakes - you can clearly see them when you look close........I'm old - I use a magnifying glass. Glitter is larger "chunks" - angular. However, some of the modern sparkle wraps have random bits (not hexagon).

I have some new Gold Sparkle from PrecisionDrum and they carry the sparkle with Hexagon bits (like the vintage wrap).

You are welcome, here are two more examples from Jammin Sam. I prefer the sparkle wraps.

I agree with the posters above--there's a big difference between the two finishes, but you really need to see them in person to gauge the difference. Precision Drum will send you free samples. (Me, I love Precision's ginger glitter. It's a little more subtle than gold glitter.)

Regarding Ginger Glass Glitter:

PrecisionDrum sent me some sample swatches last year when I ordered some wraps. It's a great way to compare.

I was looking at the wraps swatches just last week and decided if I was going to choose a wrap for my new drum it would probably be Ginger Glass. One of the reasons is what you stated in your last sentence below.

From section2
