If those are single ply horizontal staves of mahogany, that's basically what Craviotto is calling a "stacked" shell and charging a ton for!

Eye Ball

Never play it the same way once.

I bought a stave walnut snare shell from Greg I think his name is,about 5 years ago,he was located in Pennsylvania at that time,I think he moved to Virginia shortly after that.

The shell was very well made, the edges and snare bed were very well done, and the price was very reasonable.

It became a very nice drum.

I found his wares on line about a year ago I think,I remember his site took you to another site for prices, pics and closeouts.

By the way I paid about 160.00 for my 5 1/2 x 14 shell, drilled for hardware and edged bedded,I just finished it with tung oil and it was well worth it,that E bay drum would be a smokin deal at 200.00 IMO,and a good deal at 250.00 considering the throw and hoops on it,and that it is finished.

Gary, Matt's stuff is top notch. He hurt his back and has stopped making shells for the time being. He is, however, running http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/

If you want to hear a segment shell, PM me. I'm just a drive down 55....

Here's link to some of my snares.. http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=27722
