Getting lugs off Premier drums?

Loading...

The later Premiers fared better, as the screws also have a 1/4" hex head.

Another possibility if the screw resist:

Cut the keyhole washer to pieces - if you are lucky, you can just pull it in the direction so that the screws head can come through the "open" part of the keyhole.

Once the washer is off, the screws can pass through the hole in the shell.

You can then work the screw(s) - a lot easier when they are inside a drum.

I think this is the way to go.

"New" washers are to be found on ebay.uk

Is there a trick to it?I have tried on 3-4 drums, and can never seem to get them off!

Get a good bottle of wine, put some nice jazz on (no Kenny G) and slow dance them around the living room whispering sweet nothings into their vent holes.

If that doesn't work use some lube & "un-screw" them! LoLoLoLo

Not sure about those British drums, you know how tight arsed they are!

Older Premier lugs have self-tapping screws. I haven't had much trouble removing them, but I would be a bit hesitant to remove and replace the lug on too regular of a basis. If it has sides to grab onto, I would definitely use a socket rather than a screw driver. I was having a bit of trouble removing some lugs from an old '70s snare. Obviously they were removed once 'cos there was a retainer missing!!!

Just be careful, take it steady and be patient and you'll be fine.
