For all of those who can’t make it to the factory: Zildjian released this video of the manufacturing process. I remember seeing all of these steps on the tour.

That is so true! The Zildjian factory is very professional and efficient, but the folks at Sabian treat you more like they're giving you a tour of their home ("farmhouse" would be more appropriate considering its very rural location). The guy in jeans and flannel giving me and my wife the tour was a former lathe operator there and he couldn't have been nicer. Everyone there is really proud of their work and they're actually thankful that you'd take the time to check out how they make cymbals. They let me strike everything on display except the prototypes in "Area 51" (their name for the artists/endorsers vault). Turned me into a real Sabian fan.Mike
Mike...We were incredibly moved at the treatment we got at Sabian by everyone there. They took us into the room where the hand hammering is done, and they let me hammer a cymbal on an anvil to see what it was like. It wasn't easy, and it is an art.
My friend's son was a budding drummer at the time, and Bob Zildjian told us to pick out a set of cymbals for him on the house! It was a smart thing to do on his part, because the kid told all his drummer friends about his Sabian cymbals. Good marketing.
