This is a kit I made slowly and bit by bit in the last few months.
It's a custom kit, but made from vintage parts.
The kick used to be a vintage 26,5 x 13 inch marcher. It could have been a Sonor, but I'm not sure. I cut it down to 26 inch to make modern heads fit. It was a very thin beech 3-ply shell with re-rings, made the German way (bent into a circle and then the ends were joined with another piece of beech ply-wood). The original shell was a little too flexible to my taste, so I made it a bit more rigid by making the re-ring thicker; I added a 2,5 mm thick ply of oak. I gave it complete round-over bearing edges. It sounds huge and fat. When I tune it up a bit it's very punchy.
The racktom (12 inch) and floor tom (16 inch) are Sonor Swingers or Champions (I can't tell). Straight beech shells. I re-cut the bearing edges because they were damaged a bit too much. They sound very warm and woody.
The finish is a red paint I mixed myself to get just the right colour. The paint is completely matte. I don't know the brand of the hardware, I choose it for the looks; something rustic or medieval. I brushed all the hardware to enhance the medieval effect.
The insides were painted creamy-white and I left some lozenge-shaped area's unpainted to show the beech-wood (to convince future buyers).
