Any guesses on who the maker is of this European drum is? Tromsa, Trowa maybe? Thanks!!
German Drum conundrum???
Looks like a late 60`s Teardrop. Could be an early Swinger,(ordered) but I think it`s Teardrop because of the damper knob.

Any holes from a badge, 4 tack holes would be correct.

A swinger would have a foil lick and stick badge.

It's curious. The shell has no extra holes, residue or fading outline from a badge. The air vent is under the throw off. "003" is ink stamped inside the shell. It's also thinner brass seamed shell with chrome.

March 1970. Someone took the foil sticker badge off and polished it. Those are Teardrop lugs and that`s a Swinger, Action, strainer. It was made to order. The Rockers had a snare with that strainer but plastic lugs. It`s a D-444 without the stopwatch throw.

Are you sure it`s Brass and not Ferro Manganese (Manganese, steel, ) Nickle, copper, chrome plated. SONOR does three phase plating.

Oh, I just noticed you said seamed. Then it`s not Ferro. You may have a one off D444.
This is a job for member Henk. Try showing it at the www.sonormuseum.com forums or it`s facebook page.

This is a SONOR free floating late 60`s Brass snare that nobody really knows anything about. It has the beertap throw and adjustable butt end that goes on their pancake snares.
These oddities do exist. There is also a vey unusual Brass Champion snare as well. It has the same lugs as yours.

Oddball!! You are awesome. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of Sonors! I guess I have a weirdo on my hands. I'll post more photos of the inside of the shell. I just assumed it was brass because a magnet did not stick to it at all. I need to research it more.
