Genuine Ludwig snare?!

Loading...

A friend of mine just bought this snare, rounded corners Blue and olive Badge starting at 3104***.

I am not sure if it really is a genuine Ludwig Snare, since the interior looks odd...

any thoughts?! It definately is a re-wrap, and the Badge doesn't fit right. but what about the shell?!?!

thanks!

Looks like a re wrapped rocker or maybe SL snare.

This series S/L (sorry not CL) is what I meant:

3 ply die molded shells. I have had drums from this series and they look like that snare does on the inside. The lugs on the snares are normally plastic but they could have replaced them with chrome ones since it was re wrapped.

Thanks for the info!

so, normally that drum also should have a B/W Badge and comes from a lower series, right?!

That is not a re-wrap. That is most likely the original finish.

I'm a band director and the school I teach at has 4 concert toms in the exact same wrap with the olive and blue logo. I can get pictures of the drums I have tomorrow.

The lugs on S/L drums are not plastic. They are steel. They are the same lugs as the Ludwig Standard models.

Ok I just remember them not being chrome and not feeling the same as on my Jazzfest and smaller club date toms. That being said the S/L snare is not a bad sounding drum.

Honestly sometimes anything goes with Ludwig I just have not seen that snare in a catalog or one like it show up often. That does not mean much of anything with Ludwig though.

If you are happy with how it sounds, looks and what you paid for it then it should not matter really. I would only care if it was advertised as something and you paid for something it was really not.
