Gene Krupa Kit @ Zildjian

Loading...

Greetings,

Title says it all, I was in Boston this past week visiting Zildjian in Norwell. On top of being able to pick out some great cymbals, I got to take some pictures! This is a replica of Krupa's kit from back in the day. I thought I would share this picture with everyone.

Oh, and yes I got to see Buddy's kit that he gave to "Zildj." to hang on to during his final duration in the hospital. What a great trip!

I have a few more pics on my MySpace, if you would like to check them out.

In regard to Buddy's kit....was it his last Ludwig set or the set of Radio Kings he was using toward the end? I think Armand had both for a while....

Last time I was there they had Buddy's last Slingerland set from the 70's. I was'nt aware that they had the radio king set that was refurbished by Joe MacSweeny. I have'nt been there in almost 10 years either. They did have a remo set that was Louie Bellsons. That was cool too.

Hmm, well I could be mistaken on which kit it was. They had a huge display of Buddy by the 'drummer's lounge'. On the wall was the quote of Armand Zildjian saying "I've got your drums, Buddy" and Buddy answered with "Zildj. take care of them would you?" Then he died the next day.

I have a picture of them on my site, if I get a chance I might be able to post it on here, and everyone can tell which kit it was! It was great to sit behind them, that's for sure.
