I was just looking around and saw this post for the pedal. Was that pedal similar to the Yellow Jacket? I used one (actually several of them; used to fix one with parts from another and another) years ago. Just curious. Congrats on the $80.
The Yellow jacket had external springs, I don't know how similar they are.
Looking at the two, now, the one you had looked beefier and no leather strap. Thanks.

The Yellow Jacket was an improved version of the tempo-king....similar frame to the super speed, but different, also the leather strap was replaced by a metal link on the yellow jacket. The super speed was a compression spring type pedal, call it Slingerland's version of Ludwig's speed king, only not quite as well known, popular, or reliable.

So, you're saying the YJ had a steel strap, but perhaps on later models? The ones I used had leather, or maybe (and memory is kinda' foggy) nylon. The steel would've solved my problems. I either just used to just beat the snot out of them or they were just old and abused when I got them. Cool seeing the pic, though.
You bring up Speed King and I remember obtaining an old, old one, in a box of parts someone gave me in like, 1979. It, too, was a mess and I gave it away (maybe I should start kicking myself). Then I moved on to a Tama single spring (forget the series) and used to repair one with another, for the next 15years, or so, because Tama, I was told, wasn't making the one I had anymore. I should look up which one it was.
Anyway, no more futszing with kick pedals. My DW 5000 is everything and more that I need. Getting it two years ago was like going from a 1968 VW Bug to George Jetson's suitcase-mobile. Talk about adjustability and durability! (I know, it's not vintage.)
Hey hawghunter.
Some how the post made it under this pedal post. Can you go to the cymbal section and re-post this?
Thanks
David
