Galileo drums?

Loading...

Anyone here ever heard of Galileo drums? My brother had a set of them in the 80's and that is what I learned how to play on before I got my first Gretsch kit. His was a blue sparkle kit. It was a stencil kit I am pretty sure with cheap chrome. His drums had no bottom heads so it was the Phil Collins sound only not as high pitched. I guess it was the old Phil Rudd sound really. He had another kit that was partially broken on the kick but he had dbl bass, 3 rack toms 10/12/13 and a 14/16 floors. Only the 12/13/16/20 were Galileo drums. They were better made. I remember the floor toms having the drum tension rod adjustment for the legs like I have seen on the other stencil kits. They were fun to play though. He was a really good drummer and had really nice hand tenchnique from marching band. His best friend in high school ending up being my drum teacher later on when he finished music school at Ithaca.

I remember seeing one on eflay in the last couple of years, seems like they were a Pearl stencil. Not many MIJ/MIT were originally concert tom kits, so likely those would have been a late 70-80s MIT set. They were not any 60-early70s concerts that I am aware of. Could have been a CB-Pearl deal.
