Front spur repair for 1967 Star bass drum

Loading...

Hey friends!

So I have a beautiful 1967 Star kit and just last month, one of the bolts that keeps the leg extended in the proper place stripped itself somehow, leaving me with just one leg to take the full weight of the drum. Then the other day, the other side shared the same fate. So my bass drum now just wobbles side-to-side, with a whole lot less stability than I'd like.

Anyone have any ideas of fixing this? Should I replace with more modern parts? Maybe just re-thread the bolt hole? Honestly, I like the idea of upgrading to newer spurs, as the originals stick out diagonally from the drum and the less tripping hazards the better. Anyway, I appreciate your suggestions! Thanks.
