I wish they would never of broken Free Up Pauls best band!! also Simon's kit is soo cool ludwig bass drum, camco mounted, and a hayman floor tom!! Clapping Happy2
I like this a lot. I had never heard of this band before (I was born in '79 and am guessing I just missed out by a few years). Anyway, just another reason why this forum is so great: I can come here to get educated about great classic drums AND bands..cool.
Thanks,
James

James No you have it backwards Free was before Bad Company, here is Paul Rogers Website read his history!http://www.paulrodgers.com/
The order of Paul's bands are as follows:
1) Free
2) Bad Company
3) Solo (Cutting Loose album)
4) The Firm with Jimmy Page
5) The Law with Kenny Jones
6) Solo
7) Rock Therapy with Brian May
8) Solo
9) Queen
He is an amazing vocalist. I guess that's why they call him "The Voice" of rock n' roll.
Simon Kirke stayed with Paul to help form Bad Co after Free.
Cheers
thanks Vm2000 :)
Just a note on Simon Kirke's kit here. I think you'll find it's all Hayman with the exception of the snare which is a Ludwig Jazz Festival. Pardon the pedantry but I was an out of control Free obsessionist as a teenager and ended up being a out of control Camco obsessionist as a player so....you notice these things. You'd find him on other stuff (particularly on foreign TV shows) but this was usually the set-up.
Hayman were such artful rip-offs of Ludwig, even their bass drum logo looked similar from a distance.
Also absolutely my fave Free song - check out this version from the Isle Of Wight Festival.

Simon Kirk has always been way under rated as a drummer in both Free and Bad Company he always laid down great beats..
