Hello Forum! Been a while since I have posted but wanted to share and get input on what is to be my next project! I believe I have unearthed a Slingerleedy New Jazz Outfit NO. 14. That is the good news! The bad new is that these things are Swiss cheese and missing quite a few parts. Here is what is happening with each drum.
All drums stamped inside April 1963
8x12 rack tom.
Missing all the bottom small lugs
Missing Bottom Hoop and Tension Rods
Re drilled for a Ludwig Tom Mount
Re-ring is coming
Some Outer ply damage
No Vent Hole or Badge? (I know some early Slingerlands had no badges on toms but did not know if they did the same with the Leedy's)
14x14 Floor Tom
Looks pretty salvageable
Missing Legs
Has the push button legs which I am sure don't work
2 small random holes drilled toward the bottom of the drum opposite each other.
No vent hole. No badge
14x18 Kick Drum
Wasn't sure if this was the real deal or not at first. The extra holes for the Ludwig Rail through me until I saw the original Leedy holes hidden in there.
Plus the one spur that was remaining was not a Slingerland style Telescopic Spur Holder like you see in the catalog but more like a Ludwig Club Date, But after consulting the 1962 Leedy Catalog they did actually offer a Ludwig Club Date Style Spur as an option called a Shell Mount Spur.Anyone ever seen one like that? Or better yet anyone have one I can buy or trade for lol?
I am guessing one hoop is original and one is not because they are different sized center strips
Missing one large Leedy Lug
The biggest is issue is obviously the gaping hole where a new spur was attached at some point. May or may not tackle that myself. I have done some pretty serious drum surgery in the past but may try to call for some help on that one to get it at right as possible.
Any input is greatly appreciated and if anyone happens to have any parts I need. Especially the Small and Large Leedy Lugs I have tons of trade possibilities and PayPal!
Thanks all!
