Former Slingerland Management

Hello to all of you...I was with Slingerland Drum Company in Niles from 1970 to 84...I was in the factory ; product development and artist relations...

If I can help you with repairing; tuning; or replacing anything let me know.

I helped or built the sets for Nigel Olsson; Buddy Rich; Louie Bellson; Phil Ehart; Neil Smith; Jay Burrid and many others.

I have had my musical bio posted on this site and now in the process of writing a book...

The book will not be an instruction book but more like an inside look at the industry as it was; what companies dont want you to know and how to be a smarter consumer.

Pass this on to your buds.

It will also talk about tuning. There is a allot of non sence floating around out there and its done for a reason...So I will teach you guys gow to get your drums to sound amazing and like your hero's without spend huge dollars...

My goal is to help and support drummers and blow past the hype..

Thanks so much, and welcome to the forum, Rick. I am the proud owner of a 1965 Champaigne sparkle Slinger set. I am the third owner. it's a 22/13/20.

It also has a matching snare. These drums had their originals-land heads as well. Still looking for a bottom 20" 8-hole hoop/rim for the floor tom. These

drums are all dated 1965, except the 20" floor tom which is 1962. I took each

drum completely apart, cleaned them waxed and polished, etc. They're

in excellant condition. I'm looking foward to the tuning you mentioned. I

cannot get the s-land snare tuned to where I want it to be. Thanks again!!

Nope slingerlands. neil smith and kieth moon the loon were real good buds and they used to call each other and rag on each other on who had the most drums on their kits neil smith would be like moonie how many drums ya got on yer kit moonie would reply 8 and neil would reply back ha ha i've got 10, it would send moonie off and they would go back and forth with each other, great stuff!!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

WOW. Welcome, Rick. I remember seeing your name on the inside of a Kansas album, though I don't know whether it was Monolith or Leftoverture. Phil and Nigel got HUGE sounds from their Slingerland kits and I always wanted to know about shells, heads etc.

I'm all over your book as soon as it's out.

BTW Any info on Danny Seraphine's snare on Chicago II?
