For Sale: Sonor D-424 snare

Somewhat of a rarity, this D-424 model is the metal snare that pre-dated the D-444, which came with Teardrop kits in the 60s. Ferro-manganese shell, all original parts in working order, tone control in perfect shape, strainer is missing the cap (just about all 60s Sonor snares are). Top washer on butt end also missing but doesn't affect anything. Have pure sound equalizer wires on it now, but also still have the original Sonor wires that came with the drum. Chrome is clean with a few small rust spots on hoops.

Halfway between a piccolo and a 5", the snare has a strong crack on rim shots. Think The Meters. Love this snare but just got a Teardrop set that came with a very similar snare, so...

Pictures aren't the best, so if you need something more specific, let me know and I'll snap it. I've recorded (and released) quite a bit of music with this snare, so I can also send along stuff to hear it in action.

$225 shipped - USA. PM for Int'l shipping quote.

Hi Wayne (or anyone outside USA interested). I don't have much experience shipping drums - I usually put them up on CL or just bring to Maxwells. I figured first class shipping overseas would present some tracking issues (I do ship records for a business and they can't be tracked once they leave the U.S.), but if we can work out some type of priority shipping/a separate quote for int'l shipping I'm sure we can work it out. Shoot a PM if you're interested and we'll set it up. Thanks!

I have a 14 x 5 chrome over aluminum 424 that looks just like your drum. . If I were to restore it the drum is missing 8 tension rods, a throw off and snare butt. I'd get it in working condition with original parts or a complimentary brand. Do you have a source for parts? I'm interested to hear how it sounds. It feels like it would sound nice.
