Ludwig really made some nice drums during this era. This is a 3 ply Transition badge 12"x15" marching snare. It is a center lug style with 8 bowtie lugs and separate tension. This drum is completely original with the exception of newer heads. It has the really nice Ludwig 2517124 amber tip wires. Many drums from this era still had WFL parts. This one is no different. Has a WFL P83 strainer that is as smooth as I have run across. Whoever did the nickel plating on this one should have done them all! It is beautiful and yet I have not polished it in a few years. There is a red ink interior date stamp that appears to be March 17 1959, St. Patrick's Day! Has nickel over brass (NOB) hoops and a small round knob muffler. One lug has some small numbers that were most likely put there by the school or individual that owned it. The shell has the original mahogany finish with scratches that you would expect from an old marcher with this age. Some panels have more than the others. The overall finish is too nice to refinish in my opinion. I've used this drum on a shortened snare stand as a snare and also as a floor tom with a Club Date kit. This drum has that great sound. Please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth if you have any questions. Thank you.

Now 125 plus shipping. This is a deal. I value the WFL P83 at 75 bucks alone.
