For Sale: Ludwig '64 6.5 Snare Drum WMP

This is one you don't see everyday. This is a May 4th 1964 Ludwig 6.5x14 6 lug Pioneer model in White Marine Pearl. Serial number is 32366. This 3 ply drum has the classic warm sound of the 60's Ludwig wooden snares. The extra depth really adds a nice bonus to the sound. The wrap is beautiful. It's not snow white and it's not faded much. It's the perfect shade of creamy WMP that I love. Matched all of my drums well. The wrap has no issues. Has beautiful bearing edges and white resacote interior. The drum has nickel hardware. It came to me a few years ago with chrome tension rods and I honestly never noticed until I detailed it this week. Has P83 strainer and Ludwig script logo snare butt. Wires are Ludwig 20 strand metal with Ludwig cords. Nice Remo Coated Controlled Sound head on the batter and a Remo Ambassador on the snare side. Red felt bat muffler works great.*[ I've owned 3 '64 Pioneers that have all had original nickel over steel hoops. This one is the same. Even the drop gate on the snare side hoop makes you think brass. But this is a transitional trait of this time. There is some corrosion on the hoops that would clean up even better with a little elbow grease.] I've really enjoyed this one, but sadly need a new home for it. Hope one of you can put it to use in your arsenal. Please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. Thanks for checking it out.

*Just checked my parts bin and I have a beautiful set of period correct Ludwig nickel over brass hoops that I will substitute for the steel hoops. They look great.

SOLD-THANKS $ 350 (NOW 300) plus actual shipping. Will ship anywhere.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
