This is a Ludwig 60's 12"x15" Club Date floor tom. This was a project drum that I finished a couple of years ago to go with my Black Lacquer Club Dates. Sold the set recently with a 14"x14" and have this leftover.
Drum was a project shell when I got it. It has a red ink handwritten date stamp inside of Sept 7 1960. Has white interior. Started life as a marching snare. The shell had already been drilled for leg mounts when I got it. I filled in the holes for the strainer and snare butt plate. I saw traces that it was originally a blue duco paint model. I primed the shell and used several coats of black lacquer paint for the finish. It had already been drilled for these style leg mounts, so I found a set in nickel, which is not particularly easy or cheap to do. Even has the original double nickel washers and wingnuts. It has an original set of nickel Club Date straight legs. Top hoop is nickel over steel and bottom hoop is nickel over brass, all matching tension rods. Small knob nickel muffler works great. The badge is serial number 301889. I added it to match my kit as it was missing the badge. The grommet is made to press in so that the badge doesn't move but could be easily changed if needed for a rewrap or whatever reason. Edges are nice and the shell is in round. Has a newer Remo coated Ambassador up top and the same in an Emperor on the reso. The drum has a wide tuning range and has that 60's vintage sound.
