I had one like the one in your picture. Tried to fit a modern, regular (cylindrical) floor tom with metal rims in there and it was not a good fit, at all for me. Not stable.

I think those cradles were made for tacked bottom heads or the rounded bottom Chinese toms

There is another style that is better suited for a modern floor tom.

That is, unless you have a tacked head tom or a giant Chinese FT to put in there.

Both types are rare.

FYI - Something to maybe consider.

Doesn't have a "classic" look but worked nicely for me without having to drill holes in the marcher to mount FT leg brackets. I modified an old WFL snare stand by shortening up the bottom support tubes.

There is a couple on Reverb but the prices are quite steep.

I have been looking too but not willing to pay the price.
