I think they must have the treble set so high that there's no way but to capture the cruddiest high frequencies when capturing a drum performance. When I video'd my performances with my last band, all I could hear was cymbals on the Flip recorder.
Example: I recorded myself playing my newly cobbled together Premier kit. I could barely hear the 24" kick, hear a teeny bit of snare, the toms were nearly non-existant, but the cutting sounds of my cymbals was loud and clear. They also sound a LOT higher pitched than I hear them, and I compared against the Paiste website (for the cymbals still in their soundroom).
Has anyone else had this observation about Flip cameras? I am thinking that the poor audio quality HAS to be a root cause of why Flips are starting to go away...
