Flea market Supra

Loading...

Just picked up a Supra at a flea market - filthy but in great condition. Will post pics later when I can. It has the newer Monroe Keystone badge (mounted so high on the drum that it's partially hidden by the head/hoop). Serial number is 3263638. Can anyone tell me what year it was made?

Also, the snare side hoops have 'open' gates - by that I mean that instead of the typical rectangular 'hole' in the hoop for the snares, there is a chunk completely cut out of the hoop - looks factory - did Ludwig ever issue hoops like that, or have they been replaced?

Thanks for any advice!

The badge being mounted high is probably from a transition period. They sometimes used the old shells and mounted a badge on it even though the vent placement wasn't correct for the badge.

No further advice on this? Was really hoping someone could give me some input about that bottom hoop. It looks original - matches the top hoop and looks like Ludwig in terms of how the 'ears' and holes are shaped.

I don't like the look of the hoop so I'm going to replace it anyway, but I'm curious to know if Ludwig ever shipped drums out with those open slot hoops.
