I notice a lot of the drummers on the scene these days play with their cymbals straight, with no angle, and really low as well, while BITD, they almost all played with their cymbals on an angle and relatively high.
Personally, I like a little angle so I can ride them. This also allows me to put them up a bit higher. I'm trying the flat method, but I'm not sure it's working for me.
So how do you guys play your cymbals?
Tried flat and a bit high a few times and it chewed through my sticks. I am an angle guy.
2 rides on the right low and flat but enough angle to be able to crash them and a crash on the left low and angled a bit more for the same reason.
I go both ways, if I'm feeling more r&r I go flat on the crashes, if I'm feeling more jazzy, I angle the crashes.

I do like the look of the low, flat cymbals I see guys playing on their kits, but I find it difficult to play them. If I just crashed them, I could probably live with it, but riding is tough, and it looks awkward. Uncool actually!
For now, I'll keep them flat, and maybe I'll get used to them... eventually.

Slight angled never flat guy here. Both low or high.
Very slightly angled for me.
I almost always am playing jazz and show music so I have a ride cymbal mounted low but slightly angled on a older Rogers Swivomatic mount attached to the (18") bass drum. I have a flat ride and Beautiful Baby sizzle ride on the right side that I also like to use and just have them on old flat based Ludwig floor cymbal stands where I can reach them arranged around the basic ride. Even when I position a cymbal high I don't angle it that much. I don't know why, just playing habits. When I go to a jazz jam and sit in I notice that most players have their cymbals positioned higher and more angled and I have gotten used to that. I think part of my philosophy is that I don't really have crash cymbals. I recently added a splash cymbal and keep it flat so it can be choked easily. It would not work for me to have that at any angle. I just set up cymbals and drums so I don't have to reach out so distance and position is more important than angle to me.
Flat for all except the ride.
